Target & Critical Structure Delineation Course for Medical Dosimetrists
NOTES
FROM INSTRUCTOR
Dear Sir / Madam, Thank you for expressing an interest in the two day course for Medical Dosimetrists, “Target 7 Critical Structure Delineation.” The course will be held in July and November at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and also in November at the Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Advanced Radiotherapy Consulting (ARC) has five years experience instructing the following courses:
It was during these courses that ARC recognized the need for the Structure Delineation Course. The role of the medical dosimetrist and medical physicist who are part of the planning team have changed dramatically over the past decade. True 3-D Planning and IMRT planning hinge on the accurate delineation of the target and critical structures. The contouring of the target is the sole responsibility of the physician. In many cases, this delineation is not reviewed by peers and thus presents an opportunity for the dosimetrist to aid in evaluation of accuracy. Additionally, the dosimetrist is frequently responsible for normal critical structure contouring. Oncology Imaging has become one of the hottest topics in Radiation Therapy field. This with other merging technologies has presented a challenge for the field that we may have never faced before: The technologies have surpassed our knowledge base. This course is one of a series of courses that will help to bridge this gap. I welcome you to this course. If you are not familiar with ARC, please visit other areas of ARC’s website at www.arcphysics.net and review testimonials from various courses. Brent D. Murphy, MS, DABR
